We’re Open! New pano-

So we’ve been open for one night, and I’m spinning my wheels working with my now complete pano gear..  the regular website will start featuring these pictures very soon–  A whopping 4 rooms occupied last night, and so far no one has gone into the pool–  it’s ready!  really!

First good weather day this week I’ll be taking lots of photos and getting them live on the main site-  starting this year all photos will come dated for ‘reality’ viewing..

Pride of Ownership- First Edition……

Starting a whole new category-  one needed,  I’ve decided to call it
Pride of Ownership

I’ll start with the fact that we are getting the entire exterior of the room areas, parking canopy, and the stairwells  repainted..  a month or so ago we had the main stairwell ripped out in part and rebuilt, and now we are getting a fresh coat of paint done by some really swell guys…

There are a lot of owners who have put some upgrades into their unit in the last winter; from now on  as they become finished by housekeeping I’ll be updating the ‘unique rooms’ page on the main website, and blathering about them here…

Between now and before Memorial Weekend we have -our king suite and one of the decorator suites getting all new carpet by May 1st,  -we have two units on the poolside with new window treatments & furniture,  -I have a standard room getting a new dresser, desk, chairs and table-   -There are going to be about 14 flat screens televisions in the hotel vs. the two we had before, and -we have owners painting their own units in differing ways…     Keep an eye out for the pride of ownership section– or just click the category to the left and see all the posts as I add them– I expect the pace to be a lot each spring, then occasional ones mid-operating season each year..  I’m happy though,  between what I have new for housekeeping, and with more owners than prior interested in ‘keeping up with the joneses’ I’ll have some really nice units to offer.

So we’ve got this large group coming in early June….  If you want to stay for five nights or longer in June–

For our five & more specials, for all room types-  Book a special ending on June 8th, or Starting on June 10th,  and we’ll add 5% to the discount amount..  so for suites that’s 15% off the 5 or more specials, and for rooms it’s 5% off,  (and you can still get the cash discount for 18 or 8% off)   the only requirement is that it end on the 8th, or start on the 10th of June…..

I don’t have it down pat at all, but here’s the point-  I’m going to be using my new gear (I don’t have it all yet) to allow me to shoot panoramics of the rooms, halls, and Ocean City zany activities.

Obviously the lobby is not yet ‘ready for guests’– and if you look you’ll see there are some dropcloths out front for the painters–   but I was too excited to get my first sample public…  Hopefully I’ll get color & stitching better in the future…  Hit the X on the bottom right to full screen the pano

PLBBBBBBBBBBBBBT!! We’re back to work!

It’s been a long boring mild winter in Ocean City.
I admit, I haven’t been posting at ALL, but that’s going to change….

Steven and I have been here taking names and booking rooms for a while, but it’s been somewhat unexciting..   That page has been turned-  STAFF!  (employees or the infection, they hurt)

We have turned the water on to the rooms today.  You’ll note the ceilings look really scary here-  they look that way everywhere right now, we’re having the entire exterior painted, as well as the two main stairwells.   We’ve also had a lot of work done with parts of the main stairwell with large chunks of metal ripped out and replaced, as well as cement poured..  the treads going up and down will be consistent.

 

I’ve got some new camera gear and software, in the days to come I’ll have some exception new photos to add to the website..  I’m starting with the ‘unique rooms’ pages,  there are two new ones this year, and one from last year to add.

 

Housekeeping return on Monday to start cleaning up the rooms, having had only a single cup of coffee, I’ve now shared the extent of my creativity for the day…   Ticket sales starting soon-  yer all welcome to park (I’m not towing) to pick up tickets,  but if the painters are around be aware that chips are flying…

 

 

OCNJ is coming alive!!!!

Today was a great day why you ask?

OCNJ, Ice Cream, Ocean City, NJ

Vanilla and chocolate only.

Yes Kohr was open today! My favorite flavor was not available (tie BTW Peanut butter and Cinnamon). However, I did a short four mile walk around town and sure enough there are the signs the town is coming alive alive I tell you. A few more pics below but tomorrow is my favorite day at the motel do you know why? (find out below).

Winter 2011-2012

Howdy all,

I have talked to several of you on the phone or via email lately and I started getting the question… What did you and Marke do this winter? Winter for Marke is not a lot different than summer. Marke still is at the motel a fair amount and is happy as ever. He dreams up wonderful and scary ideas and pitches them off several people. This makes very interesting discussions around the hotel counter.  I do have to give him credit as  the umbrellas seemed to go over well. He has a new thing or two to try out this summer.  (Sorry,  I don’t steal his thunder.)

Felicia, my wonderful wife,  and I are going back to her roots to see our family in North Carolina. We have done an incredible amount of bird watching.  I am often amazed at the wildlife here in south jersey.  My number one activity during the winter is the gym,  and more specifically,  running. If you see me on the boardwalk  running and I don’t wave,  please don’t have your feelings hurt–I may be running from zombies!

I arrive at the motel to see Marke and kick around the boards today, I see several cars to include police, fire trrucks and news crew at 7th street. I go inside hey Marke whats going on outside? His response don’t know but a fire truck came through a few hours ago…. I decide to go look Marke pulls up the OCpatch and learns a whale has beached itself believed to be dead. Whale beached OCNJ Atlantic ocean
