Howdy all-  it’s been a great summer, my new head housekeeper has this place so great

I’m just a bundle of joy every day..  if you’ve ever been at a bus stop at the end of the first day of kindergarten?  when the kids get off the bus and run for their parents?  (yes, my boys both separately ran for their mother)  that’s how I feel about Jaime..  just so happy to  see her..  when she’s not sick..  or cranky..  or– well, I’m almost always happy to see her….  and as you can tell from the picture she is always happy to see me   — lets just leave it at that.

Anyway-  continue on to the the deal!

A frackin sunday?

Work with me here,  I’m gonna tell a story– then I’m gonna offer a deal, a useless deal..  a deal that is good for a Sunday night only.

For those of you who’ve never had the pleasure..  I occasionally break out in song..

Sometimes-  I even will sing into the staff radio systems..  (Real professional, I know, I know)
Also,  I occasionally attempt humor.   Today I tried mixing the two— at what Turned out to be a most inopportune time

I started with a song from the  Sound of music..  for whatever reason I just began belting out

“The Hills are alive….”  –which is usually followed up with  ”the sounds of music (fa llalala) ” but today I was (cough) inspired…I immediately started speaking (ala Orson wells I suppose)  RUN!  RUN!  the Hills!  They are coming alive!  Run!

 

The real tragedy?  very few understood what I was attempting to communicate..  and those who did– no one laughed.

 

Well look who’s laughing now…..!   (hot deal after the break)

the cookie contest

(wakes up from sugar coma) so today I went to a cookie ‘sculpting’ contest where they hand you a cookie the size of your face and you have to sculpt it in to an object,
so they said “just eat the parts you dont need”…………      so i made a conspicuously empty plate which requires absolutely no cookies to make.

so after recovering from my sugar high/coma (i didn’t actually go in a coma, did i? *looks around conspicuously*)

so then me and the high overlord a.k.a. dad went to see the Atlantic city water show which was fun and THEN i walked the boardwalk until my feet got blisters(it hurts so bad) and am now being ordered to do menial tasks  that makes everyone else  cringe from pain and sheer boredom that they conveniently pass to me.

Since memorial weekend we’ve had wifi installed-  so far we’ve identified ONE room in the motel where it does not reach reliably–  (works on my machine, failed on one guest machine to date)  but  the rooms are still hardwired as well…

Internet access rates have decreased-  but there is still a charge-  use is $2.00 a (full 24 hour) day per machine or $5.00 per week..

I can feel the 802.11g goodness coursing through me–  it’s so uplifting to know that all 7.75 billion pages of the internet can pass through my body at any time…

the taffy sculpting contest

Photos coming tuesday!

This Monday on JUNE 25 I went to the JULY jubilee ( am i only one seeing a problem?) and entered a taffy sculpting contest.I am still getting taffy out of my teeth… i mean um…… *cough*cough*. so i said for the age group i was 12 and the man said i am in a 9-12 table, i thought OK at lest there be some people my age…… apparently not. i was literary the only one in the table that was over 10 and 3 feet away was everyone my age to15, and everyone else who lied about there age, sigh. so i thought oh well i might actually win….or get beat by a 4 year old (i really was beat by a 4 year old) so I made a boardwalk out of  taffy. then it rained and melted it and i squished it , so now i have the worlds best impressionist painting :D (not hating on impressionist painters if your reading) and then a little kid made a light saber and completely beat me.oh, the rain stopped now i have to go feed fluffy (the ‘monster’ in the boiler room that controls the hotels lights). anyways, i got beat and got the official July jubilee losers ribbon, it says ‘participant’ but we all know what it means. that’s about it

We’re Open! New pano-

So we’ve been open for one night, and I’m spinning my wheels working with my now complete pano gear..  the regular website will start featuring these pictures very soon–  A whopping 4 rooms occupied last night, and so far no one has gone into the pool–  it’s ready!  really!

First good weather day this week I’ll be taking lots of photos and getting them live on the main site-  starting this year all photos will come dated for ‘reality’ viewing..

Pride of Ownership- First Edition……

Starting a whole new category-  one needed,  I’ve decided to call it
Pride of Ownership

I’ll start with the fact that we are getting the entire exterior of the room areas, parking canopy, and the stairwells  repainted..  a month or so ago we had the main stairwell ripped out in part and rebuilt, and now we are getting a fresh coat of paint done by some really swell guys…

There are a lot of owners who have put some upgrades into their unit in the last winter; from now on  as they become finished by housekeeping I’ll be updating the ‘unique rooms’ page on the main website, and blathering about them here…

Between now and before Memorial Weekend we have -our king suite and one of the decorator suites getting all new carpet by May 1st,  -we have two units on the poolside with new window treatments & furniture,  -I have a standard room getting a new dresser, desk, chairs and table-   -There are going to be about 14 flat screens televisions in the hotel vs. the two we had before, and -we have owners painting their own units in differing ways…     Keep an eye out for the pride of ownership section– or just click the category to the left and see all the posts as I add them– I expect the pace to be a lot each spring, then occasional ones mid-operating season each year..  I’m happy though,  between what I have new for housekeeping, and with more owners than prior interested in ‘keeping up with the joneses’ I’ll have some really nice units to offer.
